The Reasons Why 68% of Americans Think Their Mom is ‘The Cool Mom’

Nearly seven in 10 Americans identify their mom as “the cool mom,” according to a new survey.

The survey of 2,000 American adults identified the attributes they believe distinguish their mother from the group of fathers.

So what makes a mom a “cool” mom?

Among the 68% of respondents who agreed that their mom was a “cool mom,” 62% said it was because she spoke openly with her children about any topic.

Relaxing the rules a bit may be another key, as more than half said their mother’s coldness stems from the fact that she allowed them to get away with things that a “normal” mother wouldn’t do when they were older. (See all the main reasons below).

Being an epic gift giver, or having great style, also seemed to be a component, with 52% saying that her tendency to spoil both herself and loved ones was what made their mother stand above the rest. .

Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Angara.com in celebration of Mother’s Day, the survey also probed the most important lessons Americans have learned from their mothers over the years.

Respondents’ responses ranged from how to “be responsible” and “live in the moment” to “how to be a super parent.”

“Don’t judge others, even if you think you have the whole story,” said one of the respondents.

“It’s not a crime to pamper yourself when life gets too stressful,” added another. You learned to “respect yourself and others will respect you.”

Nearly seven in 10 respondents (68%) report that they learned to juggle responsibilities by watching their mothers “do it all” over the years.

In fact, more than 60% say their mother has been juggling more in the last year than ever.

So it is perhaps not surprising that three-quarters of those surveyed think that, after a long and exhausting year, their mother deserves to be fully pampered this vacation.

“Every mother’s relationship with her child or children is different,” said Ankur Daga, founder and CEO of Angara.com. “Your unique relationship with your mother is worth keeping in mind when planning how to make her feel special this Mother’s Day.”
