Being Greek comes with its ups (I get to go there quite often) and its downs (I am so hairy). Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about people embracing their natural hair, but there’s something about leg hair that makes me cringe. Growing up I was a gymnast, which is ironic because the thought of bending my body those ways today seems close to impossible. Anyway, I was also self-conscious about my leg hair that it just always stuck to me to get rid of it. Fast forward to today, I’m still the same, just now I don’t have time for hair-removal creams, and I don’t have the pain tolerance for wax, so enter the Gillette Venus Extra Smooth Sensitive Razor, aka my best friend in the shower.
Let’s start by the way it looks, shall we? The mint-green accents are a cutesy touch, and the squishy, comfortable handle reminds us of its namesake, the five-time Best of Beauty-winning Gillette Venus Embrace.
Now, why it’s great is because it’s everything you want in a razor: a smooth, close shave with little to no redness or razor bumps, even without shaving cream. The aloe-infused moisturizing strip on the head of the razor gets pretty slippery, so it glides beautifully around knees and ankles. The slickness starts to diminish after about five shaves, though, so if you have really, really sensitive skin, you’ll need to replace your blades more often or add a little psssst of shaving cream.
These are all the reasons this little gem just won an Allure Best of Beauty 2020 award, and to be honest, if the “smoothest legs around award” existed, that would go to me.
