Foreo Luna Mini 3 Gently Deep Cleans Skin In Just 30 Seconds | Review

Effective ingredients are the cornerstone of a stellar skin-care routine, but assistance from high-tech tools brings even more skin-boosting benefits. Case in point: Foreo’s Luna Mini 3 device. Whether you’re a newbie or seasoned skin-care enthusiast, the foundation of a proper regimen — and ultimately, your best skin — starts with cleansing the right way. And this Best of Beauty-winning tool revamped my regimen in the least daunting way.

I’ll admit, sometimes, I’m only a once-a-day face washer. If I haven’t put on makeup or if I stayed in the house all day, I’ll cleanse with a face wash during my shower. On hot days, when my skin feels sticky from the humidity, I’ll add an additional double cleanse before bed. This helps break down the grime and grease that has built up throughout the day. But there’s something about a cleansing tool that adds incentive to make sure my nightly routine happens.

Using the Luna Mini 3 reminds me of days when facials, carried out by professionals, were a luxurious staple that I indulged in from time to time. I can use the tool at home to get rid of the day’s remnants and do a relaxing, pre-bed face massage. I just have to make sure that as I’m indulging I don’t go too hard with the sloughing.

“Over-exfoliate and you’re likely to create tiny cracks in the skin barrier that lead to more loss of hydration and inflammation,” Joshua Zeichner, the director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, previously told Allure

Luckily, the device has been redesigned to ensure this doesn’t happen (more on this in a second). Like the other devices in Foreo’s lineup, the Mini Luna 3 has silicone bristles, which are powered by sonic vibrations. The difference between this tool and its predecessors is that the bristles are softer, making for a gentler clean (a win if you have sensitive skin or wash your face multiple times per day). But while the bristles may be softer, but they’re also longer — so you get a deeper clean in a shorter amount of time. This version also uses a “glow boost mode,” a timed 30-second cleanse, after which the device automatically shuts off.
