Doja Cat Wore a Soft-Serve Mullet to the 2021 Grammys

There are celebrities who have a rarely-strayed-from signature look, and then there are the beauty chameleons — artists and entertainers who keep everyone guessing about what hair color, style, lipstick shade, and nail art they’ll be seen with next. Doja Cat is one of those ever-changing beauty shapeshifters, and we knew that if there was anything we could predict about her 2021 Grammys look, it was that we couldn’t predict her 2021 Grammys look. Will she wear a platinum-blonde bob or burgundy braids?  Will she go for colorful graphic eyeliner or something smoky? Regardless, we knew it would be amazing — and not to brag, but we were so right.

Needless to say, the “Say So” singer brought the beauty for her big night — she’s performing and is nominated in three categories (Pop Solo Performance, New Artist, and Record) —  and the centerpiece of her look is the hairstyle we recently called as the hair trend of spring: the soft-serve mullet. Created by Jared Henderson, the dark-chocolate brown ‘do had long, shag-like layers that tapered toward the bottom, with fullness at the top and the cutest little baby bangs we ever did see.

Doja upped the sultriness of the look with an incredible eye look: a dramatically smoked-out black wing that seems to get its inspiration from the feathers on her knockout showgirl-meets-motocross Roberto Cavalli gown. Makeup artist Ernesto Casillas balanced out the beauty look with a flawless nude lip that let her eyes grab the spotlight.

As mind-blowing as Doja Cat’s red-carpet look is, we fully expect her to change it up yet again for her performance, so stay tuned.
