To say that this holiday season is different from others would be a gross understatement. Yes, there will be fewer in-person family gatherings, but that doesn’t mean there will be fewer gifts exchanged. Indeed, after the year this has been we could all use some presents, especially ones that give us just a little taste of pre-COVID normalcy.
One of the things that have kept me marginally sane during the pandemic is wearing perfume while working from home. I used to spray myself every day before work, brunch, or even running errands. It wouldn’t matter if I was wearing a blazer and button-down or sweats and a T-shirt — I always spritzed on a little something on before I stepped out into the world. I continue that ritual now, even though the only place I’m stepping to most days is the living room couch.
Candles have also helped. Since we’ve been spending a lot more time indoors, they’ve become more crucial than ever. The world outside, quite frankly, stinks — the least I can do is make it smell good in my house.
