Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser Is Juice for Your Skin | Review

When I moved to New York almost a decade ago, every expensive-looking person was very “into juice.” This was the heyday of the juice cleanse, the health benefits of which have since been refuted by most medical practitioners across disciplines. But who cares? Nothing is better than being an 18-year-old in their prime, wearing jeans you distressed yourself, drinking 10 dollars of dirt to delude yourself into healthiness. When the juice trend began to wane 15 minutes later, I held fast to it, eating pizza for every meal and washing it down with cold-pressed kale water. Beauty is a lifestyle, friends, and I now have a cleanser that fits seamlessly into mine.

Youth to the People’s Superfood Cleanser bills itself as a juice cleanse for the face, which is a rather sad thing to be, but luckily for all of us, this cleanse is incredible. The ingredients double-down on the power of antioxidants, which simply put, help your skin cells defend against pollutants. “Are pollutants actually threatening my skin?” you might be thinking, and the answer is: Yes, oh my god, yes. I didn’t think so until many, many dermatologists told me yes: That free radicals in pollutants (and also from the sun’s rays) gnaw away at everything that makes your skin dewy and excellent. A cleanser like this gives your skin what it needs twice a day.

The brand promises to distribute youth to the people. The people, in turn, really frigging love this stuff. It has incredible reviews, and it won Allure‘s Readers’ Choice. The texture and color make it look a little like dishwater detergent, and it smells like the inside of a Granny Smith apple, but as soon as it begins to lightly foam on your face, your skin cells will sigh in relief. Maybe! I don’t know. You are allowed to do whatever you want to do. Even if everybody else is drinking expensive juice and wearing Isabel Marant sneaker wedges (also very hot when I moved here). Just make sure to get antioxidants into your face — OK?
