Woman Starts Dancing and Regains Her Health

Getting in shape doesn’t require hours in the gym; Other exercises like dancing make exercising more fun! One woman found that dancing gave her exercise without feeling like hard work. She looked forward to it because it incorporated movement in a way that resonated with her. The key to success with any training program lies in finding exercise that you can stick with for the long term, which is what Ebony did! This is his story.

While Ebony also works out in the gym and incorporates weights into her workouts at home, she likes to dance more.

“I like cardio and my favorite is dancing,” says Ebony. “I love dancing. Probably the best exercise you can do is dancing. You don’t even realize you’re exercising because you’re having so much fun!”

If you look at her Instagram page, you’ll see that Ebony dance exercises more than anything else. It’s a wonderful exercise because you sweat and burn a ton of calories, even in just one 30-minute dance session. Dancing improves heart health, increases strength, and also helps with balance and coordination. In fact, a 30-minute dance class burns between 130 and 250 calories, roughly the same as jogging.

Other benefits of regular cardiovascular exercise, such as dancing, include:

  • increased resistance
  • improved mobility and flexibility
  • improved blood flow
  • a stronger immune system
  • sleep better
  • reduced stress
  • reduced risk of certain chronic conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease
  • reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression

Many people tout the physical health benefits of dancing, but the mental health aspect is often overlooked. With so many people struggling with mental health today, dancing can serve as a major outlet for stress. Not only does it offer a fun way to exercise, it can also help you make connections by signing up for a class. Socializing is just another benefit of dancing, but it can also be done in the comfort of your home if you wish.

According to Healthline, here is the amount of calories you burn in 30 minutes with different types of dance:

  • Ballet: 179 calories
  • Ballroom: 118 calories
  • Hip hop: 207 calories
  • Sauce: 143 calories
  • Swing: 207 calories
  • Western country dance: 172 calories
  • Touch: 164 calories

Of course, you will need a dance partner for some of these, but hip hop is great if you dance alone. You can also check with your local gym to see if they offer classes like Zumba. Today, many gyms have a variety of dance classes, free with a membership. You can also make some friends when you attend classes, which makes the whole experience even more fun.

Ebony began her journey by exercising and eating better to get rolling. Then she incorporated dance later to add some variety to the routine. Ebony says that since diet and exercise go hand in hand, she wanted to focus on both.

What helped Ebony the most throughout her fitness journey

“Eating is the most important part, so I changed my diet,” Ebony said. “What worked best for me is a low carb diet. I’m a carb girl so staying away from carbs has helped me a lot. Also, not eating after a certain time of day and drinking more water, those things helped me a lot. “

She also said that having a personal trainer helped her a lot on her fitness journey, as it held her accountable. During the time that Ebony embarked on this new phase of her life, she unfortunately ended up losing her job. However, she saw that as a blessing in disguise.

“Losing my job was probably one of the best things that could have happened to me,” Ebony said. “I took that time to literally work on myself, and I started putting in a lot of effort. I was like ‘No, this won’t beat me, I’ll be great!’ “

With the time off from work, Ebony definitely took advantage of it and decided to improve herself. Sometimes life tells us to slow down and focus on ourselves for a while. Often times, setbacks in life can serve as the foundation for something even better to grow. He also said that something positive about this whole trip is that it changed his mind.

“When you are on a weight loss journey, you have to renew your mind in the way you think about everything. So now I’m in a process of renewing my mind with the way I think about food and the relationship I have with it so that I can be better, ”he said.

“But, renewing your mind and being more positive and intentional, those things definitely help the journey, and they have helped me. I have become the most positive person I have ever had in my life; It has allowed me to grow and elevate myself in a way that I could have even imagined. “

She says that exercising changes a lot in a person, in a good way, and we couldn’t agree more! Ebony leaves us with this inspiring and uplifting message for the new year.
