‘They came without even asking’

This is the poignant moment that the villagers showed great teamwork to recover a bumpy pickup truck from a steep hill.

The vehicle was traveling down the slope when the driver lost control and spun off the dirt road in northern Thailand’s Chiang Mai province.

More than fifty locals volunteered to pull the old vehicle that rolled down the hills and got stuck at the edge of a cabbage field terrace.

They helped the driver out of the truck before testing thick ropes around the truck to pull it. After nearly an hour, the vehicle was successfully towed back onto the road.

Resident Malinee Laowang, the driver’s niece, said: “I saw the truck roll down the hill and roll over several times.”

“I remember running to the car and breaking the windows with a stone to let my relative out. More villagers came to help us even without asking us. “

Malinee’s uncle narrowly survived the accident and sustained only minor cuts and bruises and the car was dragged back to the driver’s home.

Malinee added: ‘My uncle was not seriously injured and his car would be repaired. I’d like to thank the villagers for helping us. ‘
