Sisley Paris’s Black Rose Cream Mask Is Self-Care for Hectic Days | Review

It may be called a Cream Mask, but Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask is unlike any other face mask I’ve tried. It goes on so thin that it’s imperceptible – and it gives my skin the kind of dewy finish that I normally need to fake with highlighter. The directions say to wipe off any excess after 10 to 15 minutes, but since the texture is so fine, I usually don’t have anything to wipe away. And that is just fine by me because I don’t want to waste a drop of this geranium, rose, and magnolia essential oil powered mask. Plus, squeezing in mask sessions while taking care of a toddler means I don’t exactly have time to luxuriate with cucumber slices on my eyes. A mask that I can swipe on and forget about while playing marching band is more my speed these days. And the radiance factor cannot be understated – it’s strong enough to show up on Zooms and FaceTimes.

I am not alone in letting the mask linger. “The hydrating cocktail is too good to wipe off. I like to use it as a thick moisturizer on days when my skin is dehydrated — like on an 8-hour winter road trip with the heat blasting through the car vents directly onto my face. I also use layer this rose-scented cream – as an extra measure of protection against dryness – under sunscreen when I know I’ll be braving a wintry mix outside. And I’ve even been known to reapply midday,” says content director Jessica Cruel. “I wonder if I can lobby Sisley to edit the package instructions to read ‘daily use.’”
