Man Inspires Town During Lockdown—He Spells Out Messages with Rubber Duckies in Front Yard
People travel around town to see how the rubber ducks organize themselves into inspiring messages that squawk the neighborhood.
Jim Preston came up with a unique way to make people smile during the lockdown from his home on 14th Ave. in Menlo Park, California.
He gets up at dawn (presumably) and uses the yellow toy ducks to spell words of hope, encouragement, and wisdom, and he’s been doing it for months.
Chandrama Anderson told GNN that photos were being posted to the app, NextDoor, but that he started seeing the creations on his daily walks.
“For my husband’s 60th birthday under Covid lockdown, when there weren’t many ways to make a special birthday, I asked Jim to use his ducks to spell ‘Happy Birthday Locke,’ and he did!”
She said she was “excited”.

Even if the message was not created specifically for you, it’s easy to believe that uplifting sidewalk art comes straight from the heart – the heart of a ‘wise talker’ from the city.
