MAC’s Cruella-Inspired Makeup Is Its Most Diabolical Disney Collection Yet

Despite their evilness and deceitful plans, Disney villains are compelling characters often known for their striking appearances. On May 28, Emma Stone will be bringing the signature bright-red lipstick, two-toned hair, and maniacal smile of Cruella de Vil to theaters and Disney+ with the live-action origin story, Cruella. Of course, MAC couldn’t miss the opportunity to release a Disney Cruella Collection with nine new products to celebrate the film’s release.

MAC knows a little something about creating curated collections based on Disney characters, like Aladdin, Cinderella, and Maleficent, so it truly brought the heat with this one. The brand dug into its own subculture roots to capture the fashionable villain’s aesthetic.

“It’s high glam with plenty of attitude, brought to a new generation,” shared MAC’s director of makeup artistry Terry Barber in a statement. The collection’s edgy black-and-white packaging and elevated staples prove just that.

For eyes, the eight-pan eye shadow palette Cruella To Be Kind ($45) features primarily cool-toned hues of silver, blue, and black in a trio of finishes: matte, satin, and shimmery. The pigments are perfect for a smoked-out look like the one Stone wears in the trailer. The fun kit even disconnects into four sections, each with two shades, for portability.

The brand is also launching a special-edition Dual-Ended Pro Longwear Eye Liner ($26) with a duo of staples. On one end lies a pitch-black hue adorably dubbed De-Vinyl, while the stark-white pigment, Tightly Laced, is on the other. Use the bright white liner on the lower lash line to brighten the eyes or just in the inner corner for a bold-yet-minimalist look.

You’ll be able to add a deceivingly innocent flush to the apples of your cheeks with the Powder Blush Duo ($31). The circle pan is split down the middle just like Cruella’s hair with Tickled Pink, a bright, rosy hue, on the left and Cruel-La Intentions, a sheer shimmery peach, on the left. You can mix the two shades together for a custom color or blend the pink onto the apples of your cheeks and the peach on the highpoints for a glowy highlight.

Last, but not least, are the lips, which make up the collection’s biggest category. MAC is adding a total of six new shades of its beloved creamy bullet Matte Lipsticks ($21) and Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour ($25) to its lineup with odes with the Disney villain’s favorite lip color. The range of crimson and rosy tones is sure to help you make a statement when you walk into any room, just like Cruella.

All in all, MAC did what needed to be done with this new collection. Disney princesses far too often get all the praise and attention from beauty brands, so it’s exciting to see a glamorous villain get some shine for a change.

MAC’s Disney Cruella Collection officially launches on May 28 on maccosmetics.com, but pre-orders begin on May 13 at 9 a.m. for Devoted and Obsessed MAC Lovers and 1 p.m. for all customers.
