Looking to Adopt a New Pet at the Shelter, She Found Her Dog That Went Missing 2 Years Ago

A Pennsylvania mother was scanning local shelters for a perfect mate for her two children, but what she found took her breath away.

Among the adoptable pets was the face of the beloved dog that he had lost more than two years ago.

At first, Aisha Nieves wasn’t sure the puppy was her missing Kuvo Pitbull-Rottweiler mix, but a closer look revealed a small facial scar that confirmed her suspicions.

Nieves first brought Kuvo (named after a Disney character Lion King franchise) home in 2014, when he was seven weeks old. In May 2019, a careless driver damaged his fence and Kuvo escaped.

She was four months pregnant with her second child at the time. “A lot of emotions ran through me,” Nieves said. The morning call. “He was crying, thinking the worst, thinking that someone kidnapped him or hurt him. I was devastated. It turns out that Kovu was found in someone’s yard several weeks later. He was taken to the Lehigh County Humane Society, where he was christened “Ash”. After receiving medical attention, he was finally adopted.

However, due to changing circumstances, the family that adopted Kuvo was forced to return him to the shelter last June. “Ash” was put up for adoption a second time.

As soon as she realized that Ash was, in fact, Kuvo, ecstatic, Nieves immediately contacted LCHS. With proof of ownership and an adoption fee, she ran to the shelter to claim her furry baby.

Although Nieves was a little worried that Kuvo wouldn’t remember her after being separated for so long, she didn’t have to worry.

“He was screaming, trying to get away from the guy holding him and running towards me,” Nieves told TMC. “So he just jumped on me and we started kissing and hugging. He sat on my lap. I said, ‘Yes, friend, you are going home. I’m so sorry this happened. I’ll never lose you again. ‘
