Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask Cured My Chapped Lips Overnight: Review
When it comes to masks — for the hair, face, lips, whatever — I tend to look for three key things: hydration, lasting results, and a simple but no less significant “damn-this-feels-good” effect. If a mask delivers in the aforementioned departments, then it’s safe to say I’m going to love it. (In fact, it might just become a part of my weekly skin-care rotation or on the lineup at a spa-themed ladies night.) Hell, the possibilities are endless.
All this to say: When I first slathered on Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask — which is basically a very rich lip balm in a jar — I knew on the spot it was deserving of a 2019 Best of Beauty Award. For starters, it smells sublime, like fresh berries, which makes sense seeing it’s packed with raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, and cranberry extracts, all of which are high in vitamin C. It also contains a proprietary technology known as “moisture wrap,” which the brand says helps lock in moisture and the active ingredients in the mask so that they’re able to deeply penetrate the lips for the best possible results.
The morning after I slept with this mask on, my lips looked — I kid you not — luscious. They were soft, supple, (kissable, if you will), and plump. What’s more: Those tiny lip lines I don’t love on myself appeared visibly diminished. So yeah, I’d consider that a pretty big plus, too. For the record, you totally don’t need to be asleep to use this mask; it looks and feels lovely applied under or over lipstick or worn on its own. Another bonus is that it’s extremely thick, though somehow manages to not have a sticky finish.
So if you’re looking for a new lip balm or treatment to give your lips to some serious TLC, I can’t recommend this mask from Laneige enough. It’ll set you back $20, which sure isn’t cheap for a lip product, but a little goes a long way so it’s bound to last you through many a dry-lipped day (and night). Pick it up here if you pride yourself in having pillow-soft lips.
