Joséphine Cosmetics Tiphaine Liquid Lipstick | Review

For many of us, the only thing that’s been covering our lips lately is a face mask. But after a year of pandemic protocol, I’m over it. I mean, yes, I’m still wearing a mask, but I’ve also decided that though I’m spending most of my days at home, hopping on and off Zoom sporadically, I’m going to wear as much lipstick as I possibly can.

It’s really been a comfort. Wearing lipstick makes me feel as if I’m at work. Am I sitting around my house in Skims cozy pants? Of course I am. But when I swipe a little color over my lips, I feel a bit more pulled together and ready to attack the work day.

I tend to gravitate towards blue-based reds and one that has recently come across my (home) desk is Joséphine Cosmetics Lip/Power Liquid Lipstick in Tiphaine.

Joséphine Cosmetics creates natural and vegan makeup that’s bold, sophisticated, and, as I’ve discovered, pretty darn good quality. Tiphaine is housed in a rectangular black bottle that ombrés to clear so you can just see the lipstick color at the bottom. The teardrop-shaped applicator has a groove in the middle of it which catches the product so it spreads evenly on your lips. If you make a mistake and go over, it’s easy to wipe away — I like to use a cotton swab with a pointed tip for this.

As I swiped it on, I noticed its creamy, gel-like consistency. It dries down pretty quickly, and the point of the applicator makes precise application a breeze. I saw a little bit of that Tiphaine on my coffee mug, but even so, the color stayed bold on my lips for several hours, barely fading by the time I washed my face in the evening.

Quality this good doesn’t necessarily come cheap — this lipstick is $30, but as someone who has been using it for the past few weeks, I would say it’s well worth the price tag. Fortunately for you, though, a full-size version is included in the May 2021 Allure Beauty Box.
