Eyeko Double Act Shadow Stick Creates Perfect Smoky Eyes

I’m game to try just about any look in the makeup book, but the thought of creating a smoky eye — especially with all-over black — makes me anxious. Where does the smudging start and end? How do you make it look naturally messed up as opposed to, well, a train wreck?

When I got the opportunity to harness my skills with Eyeko’s Double Act Shadow Stick, my perspective on smoky eyes slowly started to shift. This multitasking pencil is perfect for days I feel like adding a dose of drama to my everyday look, and stat (because I’m not a morning person). On one end you’ll find Dusk, a deep chocolatey brown, and on the other, a warm bronzey brown called Dawn. While they look great worn alone as liners, these creamy, easily-blendable shades really shine when paired together. I draw Dawn onto my lids, blend it, and then concentrate Dusk in the outer corners, working it into my lower lash line about three-fourths of the way in for a grungy look. To keep the colors looking intense, I use a fluffy eye shadow brush is key. Without applying much pressure, I haphazardly blend out my drawn-on lines and clean up any areas as I see fit — and I have to admit, it’s kind of fun not worrying about precision.

If I’m going for a more subtle look, I find that my fingers do a great job sheering out the pigments. To top it off and add a touch of warmth, I pop some of Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop into my inner corners. After a coat of mascara, my look is complete and I’m only down five minutes. Two functional aspects I love about this product: In contrast to the slender eyeliners I’m used to, the thickness of the stick makes it much easier and more comfortable to grip. The pencil also comes with a very precise sharpener that doesn’t remove too much of the point — because I hate to see product go to waste.

The Eyeko Double Act Shadow Stick has definitely warmed me up to the idea of incorporating smokier looks into my repertoire and experimenting with smudging out the brighter colors I tend to use.
