Dua Lipa’s Wears Bows Made Out of Hair In Pop Smoke’s “Demeanor” Video

Dua Lipa always likes to go all out with her hair — there’s really no such thing as a bad hair day with her. One day she could have blunt, blonde bangs and the next, she could have long, black hair like Cher. Now, she’s redefining what a unique hairstyle truly is in a music video by the late Pop Smoke for the song “Demeanor,” which premiered July 29.

Ahead of the music video’s debut, she shared some photos of her look on Wednesday, July 28, via Instagram. Her glossy black hair — specifically, the two bows that decorate the crown of her head — are the standouts. Hairstylist and global creative director of Color Wow Hair, Chris Appleton, is responsible for the look. Appleton didn’t provide a breakdown of the products used to create the look in his Instagram post, but we can only guess that a lot of hairspray was used to help keep those bows in shape.

In the photos, the bows look like typical black satin bows, but they were actually made out of strands of hair, as Appleton confirmed with his own Instagram post on July 29. “Hair bows and bangs,” he writes.

The video provides an even more detailed view of the bows. As Dua and her cohort gather together for a toast in the final 15 seconds of the video, the camera captures her bows (and all of the individual strands that comprise them) catching the light from behind, further demonstrating the complex artistry that went into creating them. If you want to marvel more at Appleton’s artistry, check out the video above.
