CoverGirl Is Launching Its First Clean, Vegan Mascara
No matter how you define “clean beauty,” you have to admit, CoverGirl has been making major strides toward significantly cleaner makeup formulas. After becoming the biggest makeup brand granted the Leaping Bunny seal in 2018, the drugstore mainstay launched the Clean Fresh collection with products that are vegan, and free of some increasingly unpopular ingredients like talc, parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, phthalates, and formaldehyde. And now, the iconic brand is launching a clean version of one of its longtime-favorite products: Lash Blast mascara.
CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara has been a long-time favorite of shoppers and editors alike, garnering three Allure Best of Beauty awards over the last decade. The main reason, one could argue, is the instant impact its formula makes — with a flick of the applicator, you’re suddenly sporting seriously voluminous lashes with non-clumpy length. It was this impact that CoverGirl wanted to conserve when creating Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara.
Touted as vegan, cruelty-free, sustainable, and (of course) clean, Last Blast Clean Volume Mascara has omitted the parabens and sulfates and, of course, hasn’t invited in any other widely undesirable ingredients like talc or mineral oil to the party. Instead, it’s been infused with conditioning ingredients like argan and marula oils. Even the packaging is getting in on the sustainability, being made with 80 percent recycled paper.
None of these tweaks translate to compromise. Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara promises to define every lash for noticeable length and 10 times the volume.
The four shades of Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara (Black Brown, Black, Very Black, and Pitch Black) is now available at Target for $8, and it will be available at other retailers come January 2021.
