Concerned Farmer Uses Drone to Check on Sick Calf

JuJube the calf is facing serious challenges, but farmer Dave is doing everything he can to make sure he grows up and enjoys life on this “ethical farm.”

A few weeks ago in Ontario, Canada, JuJube was born with difficulty walking and getting up, and a calf that cannot stand cannot suckle or follow the herd across the vast expanse of rolling pasture.

With many acres of lush green pastures and meadows to stroll and graze, the calf’s mother Bernise has lived here for ten years, but in this situation even a loving father cannot help a sick creature like JuJube.

At this family-owned and operated farm, the animals are treated more like pets, with Dave placing more emphasis on their health than their profits.

A vet was hired to come to the farm every few days to examine JuJube and check on his progress. They initially suspected that he could suffer from a white muscle disease, which is a selenium deficiency. They gave JuJube vitamins and supplements by injection, along with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics because the animal could also be suffering from an infection in its joints.

JuJube has responded well to treatments, but just to make sure it looks healthy, Farmer Dave has employed a drone to control the last member of the pack …
