Beauty Corp’s Blush Duo in Mauve-ulous Is Perfect for Darker Skin Tones | Review

When I finally discovered blushes in flattering shades for my brown complexion, I couldn’t believe how long I went without using them. Since it’s not always easy to find those shades, I tend to lean towards super-bright hues, like hot pinks or oranges, or deep, vampy shades.

So the mauve hues in the Beauty Crop Blush Duo in Mauve-ulous initially caught me off guard because I was a bit worried that they would be a bit too light for my complexion. The compact comes with two formulas — cream and powder— that are nearly identical in color. The cream version is a bit brighter and fully matte while the powder formula has teeny sparkles that add a gorgeous gleam to the cheeks.

For the cream formula, I dipped my finger into the compact and swiped it on my cheeks. Then, with the rounded side of my TLB Dual Sided Brush, I diffused it from the apples of my cheeks to my temples for that faux-flushed appearance. I love using fluffy brushes that are on the firmer side for cream blushes to ensure that they blend out perfectly.

With powder blushes, I’ll typically use virtually any type of round fluffy brush. The Beauty Crop’s compact is a bit small, so I opted for a smaller brush than normal, like the dual-sided one I use for creams or the Best of Beauty-winning Real Techniques Setting Brush. I swirled my brush into the mauvey pigment, tapped it on my skin to dispense the product, and then proceeded to blend it across my cheek.

Though my initial apprehension made me fear that the blushes would be too light, after blending them out, I was immediately sold. Both formulas blend out with ease and pack a pigment that I love as I tend to go a bit overboard when I apply blush. The Beauty Crop Blush Duo in Mauve-ulous gives my skin the appearance of a “natural flush,” something that I didn’t know was possible, and now, I don’t know if I’ll be able to put it down.
