Allure Partners With the YouCam Makeup App to Provide Virtual Try On

There are a few instances in history that totally changed the way we shop: The invention of the credit card, the advent of the mall, a little thing called the World Wide Web. Most recently, the pandemic has affected the way we consume goods, especially makeup. Remember the days when you would stroll down the aisle of your favorite beauty store, swatching and sampling the many different colors and textures of the season? COVID-19 has taken us far from that haven, essentially eliminating in-store testers for hygiene reasons. But there are new ways to play with product and innovative looks from home.

This month we’ve partnered with YouCam Makeup app to bring the pages of our September Power of Color issue to life — virtually, of course. You can use the augmented reality technology to try on several looks from our colorful shoot, and you can shop the products used to create them right in the app. When you download the YouCam Makeup app, you’ll see that there is a special Allure section with plenty to play with.

Christian Siriano gown. Phillip Lim top. Bottega Veneta and Grace Lee rings.

You’ll be able to try on seven of the full-face makeup looks inside the pages of Allure this month. For the issue, we collaborated with Pantone to select the shades an updated version of the ROYGBIV rainbow we’re all familiar with. Then, makeup artist Raisa Flowers created gorgeous eye and lip looks to highlight each color, which are modeled by Whitney Peak and Jordan Alexander of the Gossip Girl reboot.

On Whitney Peak: Philosophy di Lorenzo blouse. Saint Laurent blazer. Third Crown necklace.

We hope this issue reminds you that there are still ways to play and have fun with makeup, whether we are socially distant or living life up close. And with the help of the YouCam Makeup app, you will be able to test makeup like an Allure beauty editor.
