How it looks/feels/smells:
The opalescent white cream is thick but airy — imagine a nonsticky marshmallow fluff — and smells like eucalyptus.
Why we like it:
Hallelujah and a million emoji hands to the sky: Someone finally concocted a moisturizer that’s elegant, effective, and affordable enough for us to smear on our face and body, whatever the irritation — eczema patches, beard burn, retinoid-induced raw spots, chafed limbs, chapped nostrils. And this is no small achievement, friends: a formula that suits all skin must be just the right consistency — thick enough to actually do something, but a far cry from greasy or heavy. And it must walk a sort of compositional tightrope, carefully balancing traditional dry-skin soothers, like oatmeal, with ingredients more synonymous with science-driven skin care (antioxidants, ceramides, and the like).
That said, we’ve found the palliative goo works best as a spot treatment of sorts, providing intense hydration and relief to irked areas. It dries the teeniest bit too tacky to wear under full-face makeup or sunscreen (though you’ll no doubt be tempted to try). If you need a more robust or widespread application (or a short-term reprieve from your usual potions), wear it to bed or over a weekend full of Netflix bingeing.
