Man Donates Entire 25,000 Baseball Card Collection to 9-Year-old Girl Who Lost Hers in a Wildfire

Like hundreds of others, Reese Osterberg, 9, and her family were devastated when they lost their home last month in the Fresno County Creek fire in California.

A big fan of baseball, Reese’s precious collection of baseball cards was also lost in the flames. She had been collecting since she was 6 years old, and over three years had accumulated an impressive 100 cards that she was proud of.

When the Fresno County fire team learned of Reese’s collection, they decided to do their part. Spreading the word on Facebook, they asked if someone could help a girl by donating some of her own cards.

Fortunately, Kevin Ashford from San Jose saw the post on social media. He said NBC Bay Area, “I got to thinking about what I had in the garage… I thought, you know, instead of selling them on eBay, I’m going to donate them. I will donate all of them and put a smile on a girl’s face. “

So that’s exactly what Kevin did. Since he has been building up his baseball card collection since the 1990s, he had quite a few to donate.
