12 Best Body Mists to Add to Your Fragrance Collection in 2021

There’s a 99 percent chance you owned at least one body mist as a pre-teen. But as we grew up, so did our fragrance profiles, and many of us moved on from spritzes to more sophisticated bottles of luxury perfumes

But now, thanks to the revival of Y2K fashion and beauty, these light and refreshing body mists are making a return to our fragrance rotation for their (typically) low price. Even if you’re not into the early 2000s resurgence, don’t snub these airy atomizers just yet. They can come in handy when your perfume has worn off mid-day, or when you’re not in the mood for a more pungent eau de parfum.

Though body mists and perfumes both fall under the fragrance umbrella, they’re actually quite different. According to perfumer Mandy Aftel, the main difference between the two are their strengths in scent. “Body mists are weaker in aroma strength than eau de parfums or eau de toilettes and often have less expensive aromatic essences in them,” she says.

Cosmetic chemist Ginger King adds that a true parfum formula is made of 20 percent fragrance and lasts for 24 hours, whereas a body mist usually contains as much as 3 percent and lasts for an hour — perfect for a subtle refresh throughout the day.

If you’re ready to re-embrace this aromatic trend, we have news for you: Some of your past favorites are actually still around to stock up on, and many of them come at budget-friendly price points. Take a whiff of the best body mists, classics, and newbies alike, below.
